NWT Vintage 40's Catalina 'Hawaiian Fish' California Hand Print Two Piece Swimsuit 32. By far one of the BEST examples of a late 40's swimsuit we have seen in some time. I believe this suit dates to 1944. This swimsuit has never been worn and still has the original tags. Sweet print of fish along the front modesty panel against a yellow gold background. Underneath the modesty panel it reads Catalina 'Hawaiian Fish' California hand-print. The back of the bottoms and the top are done in brown fabric. There is fagoting stitching on the side seams of the top and bottom and also below the bust line. The top has an inner tie between the cups that allow adjustment. The shoulder straps are adjustable at the front and back and can be completely taken off if you wish to wear it strapless. The shoulder straps and tacked in place with a small label that reads "Do not remove white thread tacks until the suit is sold, they prevent loss of straps." There is another Catalina circular label pinned to the top that reads Nylon Gives you 1. Extra strength, 2. Longer wear, 3 Quicker drying, 4 shrink proofing. The brown fabric has two way stretch, while the yellow fabric does not stretch. The back of the bottoms closes with a metal zipper and an inner placket. The bust is lined with the same yellow fabric. The bottoms are lined in front and the gusset liner is plastic. Label reads Catalina reinforced with Nylon for extra strength. Size 32 for weight 105/115. There is one very tiny spot on the front of the bottoms, may be from the print, but I am leaving this to the new owner. Swimsuit is in pristine new mint condition. To top it all off we have the matching pair of mens trunks listed here. The ads shown are from 1948 & 1949. Catalina Sweetheart swimsuits.
