This lot of vintage swimsuits is being sold as-is with no returns on the lot. These various pieces each have condition issues, some are slight while some are more significant. There are 15 suits in total, one play suit has a matching skirt and there are two rubber swim caps. If you are a talented seamstress, these would be optimal for repair for resale. Or they would be perfect for fashion shows, theater productions, photo shoots or for display or framing. You can even deconstruct them andmake patterns from them. The lot is as follows:
Vintage 60s Rose Marie Reid size 14. Shelf formed bra. Gusset lining, back metal zipper closure, adjustable buttoned shoulder straps. Pleated waistband, elasticized leg openings, modesty panel. Bust 34-40" Issues: The fabric is loosing it's stretch in places and has fabric stress areas particularly by the seams.
Vintage 40s multicolored Aqua Modes satin swimsuit, bust 36-38". Knit lining, un padded, straps thread thru loops at back and then ties in back. Issues: The back seams have been taken in which is causing degradation to the fabric in places. One small tear at the seam where it has been taken in near the hemline. The knit lining has lost some of it's omph, particularly around the leg openings. Some popped threads at the hemline.
Vintage early Catalina Junior sz 11 weight 75-90, bust 32". This one has a very cute print with red accents at the bust and hemline. The shoulder straps have adjustable buttons in the back. Issues: Fabric has wear. lots of seam stress with a few open areas at seams. Overall fabric and knit cotton liner are faded.
Vintage 50s Jantzen Ivory swimsuit, size 16 B30-36. Back metal zipper closure. Bust is boned, the very tips by the boning at bust line are showing wear and the boning is popping thru the inner lining at the bottom. Needs some restitching on the inside lining at center bust. The right front side seam looks as if it has been taken in. Very cool triple tip petal bust line on this one. Some minor spots in places.
Vintage 40s Jantzen wool blend swimsuit size 40, B40. Adjustable metal clip shoulder straps. The color has lightened in places, otherwise this piece is good.
Vintage 40s Stretch satin lastex swimsuit XS S, B26-32. Shoulder straps threads through loops in the back and then tie. Some popped threads and some what look like pulls to the satin. Knit lining needs a couple of small repairs at the seams. Otherwise condition is good.
Vintage 40s Brown satin swimsuit, no labels, bust 28-31". Shoulder straps thread through loops in the back. Irregular fade to satin, cotton lining is faded and some pulls in the fabric. Small hole at back hemline. Lining has a quarter size hole near the bum area and elastic is shot at leg openings. Small scattered holes in lining.
Vintage 50s Ivory embroidered eyelet swimsuit by jantzen, size 18, bust 34-38". Boned bust, fully lined, back zipper closure. Side elastic smocking, adjustable button shoulder straps. The leg elastic needs replacing otherwise no issues.
Vintage 50s Lee terrycloth like swimsuit size 14/36 B32-36. Turquoise with ivory and black. Soft terrycloth like fabric. Bust is boned and lined, gusset is lined. Adjustable buttoned shoulder straps. The side seams have been taken in.
Vintage 50s Chartreuse with black piping swimsuit, bust 30-36". Only label reads Nylon content. Back metal zipper closure. The halter neckline has been taken in and buttons at the front bust line. Side seams need restitching in a couple of places. Fabric has lost some of it's oomph. The leg openings elastic feels a bit loose as well.
Vintage 50s play suit with matching skirt. Styled by roseda of California. B32-33". Waist 23" on skirt. Cotton play suit has a back metal zipper, self belt tie at sides. The skirt buttons up the front. The bottom of the zipper area shows wear and needs some repair to the fabric there, otherwise in good condition.
Vintage 40s nylon/rayon jersey two piece polka dot bikini size 34. The shoulder straps button to the tie back top. Both pieces are lined in black. The bottoms close at back with buttons. Some light spotting and an l shaped repair on the rear. Some small seam repairs are needed.
Vintage 70s front zip racer back Cole of California Swimsuit size 12 B30-36. The bust cup linings have collapsed but they could be taken out. Otherwise good.
Vintage 60's 70s Bobbie brooks purple & pink floral bikini, bust 32. Bottoms have side ties. top ties in back and at neckline. The bottoms have lost their elastic stretch at legs and hip line, otherwise good condition.
Vintage 30s Beachmate red wool swimsuit, bust 32-34". Single button at shoulder strap. Areas of color loss and LOTS of holes.
Blue rubber swim cap, marked large with chin strap. Small hole at side White raised floral swim cap has a small hole and a split at the inner raised ridge, just at the seam.
